my personal belief is that the internet is your escape and place, and that you should curate everything you see on it. so much of my recommended content on social media is blatant 'ragebait' and it's disappointing to see how people both recognise it and continute to fall for it.

online discourse is stupid, is what i've come to realise. wasting your time arguing about pronouns and who's allowed to call themselves what or say what slur is, at the end of the day, ridiculous. i appreciate the people who try to educate others and do their research, but i'm beginning to believe there's no point in it.

of course i have my opinions on these topics, but arguing with someone about it isn't going to change their mind. people are predetirmined to defend themselves and their ideas, and just telling them they're wrong won't work. no matter how much evidence you provide that something is or isn't right, unless they've an open mind (which is incredibly rare nowadays), they're not going to care.

this is where my philosophy comes in. it's not a new one, (i got this from when i used to spend all my time on tumblr and scratch), but it's basically the idea that if someone bothers you, ignore them and move on.

obviously, this sometimes falls flat. you shouldn't just ignore someone who's directly harassing you, and you shouldn't just ignore people who make a direct impact on your life or the lives of others around you.

but other than that, what's stopping you? someone might tell you they disagree with your opinion, but that's okay! nobody's perfect, and no-one agrees on the same thing. if someone offers to debate with you about something and you want to, go ahead!

the internet is your space, and you should be able to curate and use it as you wish. you can do whatever you want, stop letting yourself be limited by annoying people who think that other people's moral code has to adhere to them and their values.

also, delete twitter. it's never that serious.
